EverEarth Eco-Educational Wooden Toys
Synthesis Labs and EverEarth Toys agreed on one singular, monumentally important goal when we started this design and development project: To instill eco-friendly values upon this generation of children so that they can pave the way forward. The eco-friendly mentality is a relatively new movement that is gaining momentum, and in our minds, must continue so that we can ensure the protection of our planet. Synthesis Labs and EverEarth Toys feel that the best way to meet this challenge is to educate the children of today, so that they can be the responsible leaders of tomorrow.
The Design Process
With our eco-education goals clearly defined from the beginning, Synthesis Labs and EverEarth Toys started to narrow down environmental issues that we wanted to tackle with these toys. We narrowed down the issues to: habitat preservation, alternative energy, and organic health. We then performed research into the traditional types of toys children found engaging and attractive (basically the toys they could not put down). This research led us to the conclusion that children really like vehicles and toys with moving parts as well as puzzles.
We set out on our ideation phase to brainstorm ideas for fun and engaging toys that would educate children about environmental issues. Idea after idea began to flood in and materialize as concept sketches (not to worry; all the sketches were in electronic format and no trees were harmed in the process). Next, the concepts that were approved by EverEarth Toys moved onto detailed technical sketches and renderings to prepare them for prototyping.
The prototypes were meticulously evaluated and re-modified to ensure that the toys stayed true to our design intentions. Once things were squared away, and everything looked perfect, it was off to production! We then began working with EverEarth Toys on the design of the product packaging and making sure that the packaging highlighted the fun and educational nature of the toys.
The final result is a line of eco-educational wooden toys that Synthesis Labs and EverEarth Toys is proud to bring to the market; a line of toys that carries our dreams and hopes of a future where we can live in true harmony with nature.
